Alex Kerr was raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, deeply immersed in the world of college soccer from an early age. As the daughter of two college coaches, she developed a firsthand understanding of the collegiate recruiting landscape. Her father began his coaching career at Harvard University before taking over as the head coach at Duke University, where he still leads the men’s program. Her mother also coached at the collegiate level, serving as head coach at Providence College and as an assistant at both American University and Harvard University.
Alex began her youth soccer career at Triangle United before advancing to NC Courage, where she competed in the Girls Academy and ECNL programs. Her talent and work ethic propelled her to the collegiate level, where she had an impressive four-year career at Vanderbilt University. During her time there, she made 63 appearances, scored 12 goals, contributed 4 assists, and helped the team capture two SEC titles.
Following her undergraduate success, Alex pursued a graduate year at Texas Tech University. She continued to excel, recording 11 goals and 4 assists over 23 matches. Her standout season earned her Second Team All-Big 12 honors, a Big 12 regular season championship, and a run to the NCAA Sweet 16.
After completing her collegiate career, Alex was selected 50th overall in the NWSL Draft by the Orlando Pride. She signed her first professional contract and played an integral role in helping the team win both the NWSL Regular Season Shield and the league playoffs. She then made the move to Europe, signing with FC Como Women in Italy’s Serie A. In her debut season, she made an immediate impact, scoring 6 goals and adding 4 assists.
Throughout her collegiate years, Alex also competed with USL W League teams NC Courage and Wake FC, gaining valuable experience in high-level environments. Her journey reflects a combination of elite performance, resilience, and a deep-rooted understanding of the game, both on and off the field.
